Bustle of the festival for disadvantaged children

These days, authorities at all levels, social organizations, students at some schools in the province have paid more attention to disadvantaged children via many significant activities on the occasion of International Children’s Day (June 1).

Warmness of love

Over the past days, some donors and students paid gift visits to Thuan An Solidarity Group’s Charity House. Thirty-seven orphans and disadvantaged children herein also visited disadvantaged people at Ba Ria-Vung Tau province’s Center for Disabled Children and Center for Elderly People.

Mai Van Thao, Deputy Director of Thuan An Solidarity Group’s Charity House said that this trip aimed to help disadvantaged children herein exchange with ones in other localities while encouraging them to rise up in life and become useful citizens for the society.

A special art performance was also organized for more than 200 orphans and disadvantaged children at Bo De Dao Trang pagoda’s Center for Orphans and Lonely Elderly People on the occasion of International Children’s Day.

During the program, they were presented gifts and took part in folk games. Buddhist nun Thich nu Tu Thao, Head of Bo De Dao Trang said that the program aimed to bring children at the center a significant and joyful festival on the occasion of International Children’s Day.

All for children

According to a report released by provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, around 20,000 gifts worth VND1.3bln from provincial and district-level State budget were presented to disable, poor children and those who join the Club of “Children and HIVAIDS prevention”…on the occasion of “the 2013 Action Month for Children” and “International Children’s Day”.

Provincial Child Support Fund also mobilized Bao Viet Life Insurance Company to present 50 gifts to children with difficulties in Phu Giao, Ben Cat and Tan Uyen districts; called for sponsors to fund 2 cases with heart surgery with VND110mln.

In addition, provincial Youth Union mobilized HCM City Distribution Corporation (Fahasa) donated 50 gifts, including textbooks, to poor-but-excellent pupils. Provincial Young Entreprenuers Association’s Young Talent Support Fund also awarded 60 scholarships worth more than VND80mln to poor-but-excellent pupils. On this occasion, around 25,000 gifts from organizations and individuals in and out of the province were donated to disadvantaged children.

Nguyen Thanh Truc, Head of the Child Care and Protection Division under provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said: “Along with rapid economic and urbanization growth, Binh Duong has absorbed a large number of immigrant laborers. And the biggest population explosion belongs to Binh Duong, making the locality face difficulties in State administration and social responsibility to child care, protection and education”.

On the occasion of the 2013 Action Month for Children and International Children’s Day, Binh Duong organized a lot of significant activities for children, including holding ceremonies to launch the Action Month for Children and open summer activities; kicking off children’s forums; honoring poor-but-excellent pupils; opening aptitud classes; organizing music shows…All have contributed to improving the living quality of children and creating equal development opportunities for them.
