Update: 14-01-2015 | 09:46:47

In an afternoon of mild sunlight we arrived at Truong Sa District of Khanh Hoa Province. At the beach, the soldiers are on day and night guard of the national space and sovereignty. Aside from training and combat readiness, the Brigade 146 has been promoting its farms to improve live hood of its soldiers and officers.

Emulation movement of farming

Taking us on a tour to the farming sites and kitchens, Captain Nguyen Viet Thuan – the Commander of Brigade 146 and Chair of Truong Sa District People’s Committee, told us about the emulation movement of “military logistics in following Uncle Ho’s teachings” to assure mission accomplishment. The movement has brought up positive transformation to promote self readiness and production improvement. Endeavoured knowledge and efforts have enabled the farming system to be optimized.

Annually, Party Committee of Brigade 146 upholds the farm production by plenty of measures to improve effectiveness. The land area around the barrack is made use of to build up inter-connected husbandry and vegetable growing system. In Truong Sa District, 4 to 6 types of vegetables are maintained to supply for meals of the soldiers. The interconnected husbandry and vegetable farms have been effectively built up. Vegetables are planted into lots supported by full watering system to create a beautiful garden. Besides, the local soldiers have built a large fresh water fish pond.

Currently, the inter-connected farming system has nearly 400 pigs and over 300 ducks along with over 1,000 m2 of vegetables.

For a warm Tet holiday

The current season is salinated to the wind barring vegetable growing. Thus, local soldiers stay focus on taking care of the vegetable garden. We were so surprise to see through their efforts. Captain Nguyen Viet Thuan kept on telling us about the favorable vegetable production on the homeland; thus, growing vegetables on island required much more efforts. The Brigade 146 can now self supply regarding the vegetables grown. After training hours, taking care of vegetable garden and husbandry have become routine for local soldiers who have been exposed to labor.

In the face of upcoming Tet Holiday, the local soldiers are robustly engaged into farm production to stock up foods for the holiday. Tet Holiday in Truong Sa District would be more sufficient thanks to vegetable crops and the resourceful fish pond.

At the marine frontier of Truong Sa District, they are living the most meaningful life devoting to the national peace. It is very appreciable for their efforts of farm production to self-supply.
