The province’s footwear industry last year continued reaching good growth. The industry has further received many orders since early 2020. Noticeably, there have been enterprises in the industry getting orders till September.
Orders
Truong Thi Thuy Lien, Vice-Chairwoman of Binh Duong Leather and Footwear Association, General Director of Lien Phat Shoes Company in Di An town said that the company has signed orders to September with its traditional partners in the US and Europe. Meanwhile, according to Phan Thi Thanh Xuan, the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso), the trade tension between the US and China, the US and other partners like India, Europe…will reduce and the global economy will recover gradually. Hence, partners will transfer orders from China to Vietnam in order to enjoy preferential polities on tariff from free trade agreements. In addition, the foreign investment sector will continue investing and expanding production, helping the domestic footwear industry maintain stable export.
The domestic footwear industry greatly depends on materials imported from China. But, the complicated development of nCoV epidemic disease is affecting these imported materials.
Common efforts needed
In the face of the above situation, domestic footwear enterprises have continued seeking materials for production from other countries.
They also need to get support from the State’s policies. In fact, small and medium-sized enterprises need to be advocated in terms of preferential loans, packages to be able to approach new technologies. Investment support from the Government’s major trade promotion programs is also necessary along with popularization, support for connection.
Nguyen Duc Thuan, Chairman of the Viet Nam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO) said that footwear enterprises need to change in the current period. Accordingly, apart from open policies from the State, the footwear industry needs to focus on fostering auxiliary industry, increasing labor productivity…
In addition to the scarcity of materials, the footwear industry faces the shortage of laborers, especially qualified ones, Mr.Thuan added.
