Good practices should be commended

This year, "National Week of Clean Water and Sanitation" themed “Clean water and sanitation adapt to climate change” has taken place from Apr 15 to May 15. To accomplish the goal of sustainable environmental protection, PPC asked localities in the province to actively integrate the action programs into major holidays and World Environment Day Jun 5.

Clean water and new rural construction

PPC launched the "National Week of Clean Water and Sanitation" 2016. Accordingly, PPC required Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to instruct localities in contents of National Week of Clean Water and Sanitation" in a practical way to mobilize the participation of the entire people; Irrigation Department, Irrigation And Rural Water Exploitation Investment Centre under Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to sanitize, maintain and repair water supply facilities in rural areas; to ensure the stable operations of projects, to supply clean water to the people...

Department of Health is responsible for maintaining, upgrading projects of clean water sanitary latrines. This agency will organize inspection and monitor water quality in rural areas, households and rural sanitation ... Department of Natural Resources – Environment need to strengthen inspection and sanction organizations, businesses, households and individuals causing environmental pollution; strictly manage well-drilling businesses and restrict small drillings to exploit groundwater in areas at risk of depletion and pollution of groundwater…

According to PPC, the action program "National Week of Clean Water and Sanitation" of this year in the province will encourage all agencies, units and the people to join the sanitation movement in workplaces, housing, public places, markets, streets; mobilize the masses to dredge and clear drains, canals and areas of stagnant water. The important thing is to combine movements of building a civilized lifestyle, cultural family with a mass movement of new rural construction...

Expanding effective practices

On May 13, PPC tasked Tan Uyen District People's Committee with organizing a ceremony in response to the National Week of Clean Water and Sanitation". According to the organizers, the content of the action program was tied to the characteristics of the locality as well as climate changes. The organizers hopes that the program could disseminate broadly the use of clean water and sanitation. Thereby, raising people’s awareness of environment and water resource protection, eliminating habits of using unhygienic water sources, take steps to socialize in field of clean water and sanitation… contribute to improving the quality of life protect the community health.

On this occasion, the organizers will honor individuals and good practices contributing to clean water and environmental protection. Action programs bringing practical effects will be expanded among residential areas in order to accelerate the national target program on new rural construction in a sustainable way. The organizers also hopes clean water and environmental hygiene would go deeper into people's life, become the motto throughout the process of socio- economic development of localities in the province.
