OPENING 2022-2023 NEW SCHOOL YEAR: Firm faith and fullness of impetus

Yesterday morning (September 5), along with 23 million students across the country, more than 500,000 students at all levels in the province eagerly attended the opening ceremony for the 2022-2023 school year with a joyful, excited mood full of confidence to welcome the new school year.

Excited to enter new school year

Right from the early morning, schools in the province solemnly held the opening day for the new school year. In general, the opening ceremonies for the new school year at province-based schools were organized simply, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere with the activity of welcoming first graders...This year's opening ceremonies have a special meaning with added solemnity because students had to go through the opening ceremonies and many months of learning online in the last school year, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the exciting atmosphere of the opening day for the new school year, teachers and students at An My high school in Thu Dau Mot city were delighted to welcome Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation together with leaders of some departments, sectors and Thu Dau Mot city. In the 2022-2023 school year, the school has 1,343 students in 3 grade blocs. This is the first school year that the school has enrolled the largest number of 10th graders, with 576 students. Nguyen Thi Tam, Principal of An My high school said that despite being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the determination and responsibility of managerial officials and teachers plus the efforts by students in overcoming difficulties, the school completed its mission with the quality of teaching maintained in the last school year. Noticeably, the rate of the school’s students graduating from high school in 2022 reached 100% with the average score of all subjects at 7.24, ranking 4th among 29 public high schools in the province. Provincial People's Committee also awarded the certificate of merit to the school for having the average score of the exam subjects increasing for 3 consecutive years. Also in the 2021-2022 school year, the whole school had 8 students winning provincial exam for excellent students and there were over 83% of students with good academic performance or higher, nearly 94% of students with good conduct.

Also in the morning, teachers and students at Hung Vuong high school for the gifted in Thu Dau Mot city were also eager to enter the 2022-2023 new school year and honored to receive the Emulation Flag of the Prime Minister for their excellent achievements in the emulation movement for the 2020-2021 school year. Nguyen Van Son, Principal of Hung Vuong high school for the gifted said that in the 2022-2023 new school year, the school has determined key tasks, including well following the instructions of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in a letter sent to students on the opening occasion of the new school year; successfully implementing the 2018 General Education Program for 10th graders, creating a solid premise for the following years; continuing being proactive and flexible in the implementation of the current program for grades 11 and 12 in the direction of developing students' quality and capacity, in which the content of educating morality, life values and skills is emphasized; focusing on improving the quality of high school graduation exams, university admission, improving the achievements of excellent students at provincial and regional levels, especially national excellent students...

The opening ceremony for the new school year at Bau Bang high school was also very exciting. Right from the early morning, the school’s students gathered neatly so that the new shool year opening ceremony took place solemnly. Despite many difficulties, the school’s teachers and students obtained remarkable achievements in the 2021-2022 school year. Specifically, the school had over 68% of good students. The rate of students with high school graduation reached 99.7%, with 5 out of 9 subjects with the average score equal to or higher than the average level of the province. There were 95% of the school’s students with college and university admission. In addition, the school's students also participated and achieved high results in competitions for excellent students and movements. This is a premise for the school’s teachers and students to firmly aim at higher achievements in the 2022-2023 school year.

Tran Thi Bich Hoa, a student of class 10C1 at Bau Bang high school in Bau Bang district shared: "This year, I am extremely happy because I can attend the opening ceremony directly, instead of having distance like the previous school year. This is my first year entering the high school environment with a new curriculum, so I have a bit of nervousness. Hopefully, we will have a happy new school year, complete our study tasks with good results and do not have to stop going to school because of the pandemic".

Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of provincial Department of Education and Training (DoET) said that the sector has organized inspection tours on preparatory work for the new school year at the local education and training institutions. Provincial DoET also noted that schools should organize opening ceremonies for the new school year simply with focus on welcoming first graders, making a good impression on them and well realizing pandemic prevention and control so that students can have a meaningful and joyful school opening day.

Towards a successful school year

In order to well prepare conditions for the 2022-2023 new school year, provincial DoET has issued a document directing schools to carry out a number of activities at the beginning of the school year such as upgrading schools; purchasing teaching equipment; reactivating a plan on prevention and control of Covid-19, dengue fever, foot-and-mouth disease... through the local authorities and health sector to ensure safety for students.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Binh Duong has 742 schools, an increase of 11 with the total number of students at all levels from preschool to high school increasing by about 29,922 compared to the 2021-2022 school year. Based on the results of school construction investment, at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, the whole sector has 381 additional classrooms; there are 100% of solidly-built schools with 315 out of 392 public schools and centers with storeys, reaching 80.35% of total.

With the theme of "Solidarity, creativity, effort to fulfill the tasks and goals of innovating, consolidating and improving the quality of education and training", in the 2022-2023 school year, provincial DoET will continue well coordinating with functional sectors to foster professional skills for managerial officials and teachers at the teaching needs of the 2018 General Education Program; build and complete a plan on "Strengthening the application of information technology and digital transformation in education and training for the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030", "Consolidation, enhancement and development of human resources and material facilities of the local education sector in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030”; focus on improving the quality of teaching and learning foreign languages; strengthen material facilities, ensuring the quality of education and training activities...

According to Mrs. Hang, the local education and training sector has also received support from organizations and individuals in and out of schools to help disadvantaged students to ensure basic conditions such as textbooks, school supplies, clothes...for the new school year. This is a source of encouragement and support to ensure that all students can go to school towards a joyful and successful school year.

“Upholding the results of the last school year, provincial DoET will strive to complete the tasks and goals of educational reform with focus on carrying out the 2018 universal education program in the right direction, especially for grade 10; constantly improving the quality of teaching and learning at all levels, building a more modern and civilized educational environment... in order to improve the quality of mass and comprehensive education in the new school year", said Mrs. Hang.

The whole province currently has 308 out of 373 public schools meeting national standards, accounting for 82.57% ot total; there are 210 out of 373 schools achieving educational quality accreditation at all levels; 97 schools equipped with advanced and modern teaching equipment for shared classrooms and 54 public high schools with STEM classrooms. The province's graduation rate in the last school year reached 99.74%. The rate of the local high school graduation was 99.98%...
On this occasion, many sponsoring units, donors awarded scholarships, gifts to students with difficult circumstances, encouraging them to rise up and gain high academic results.
