Over 50-hectare VGU inaugurated

A ceremony to inaugurate Vietnam-Germany University (VGU) was solemnly held on the morning of November 11.

The event was attended by Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang, former Presidents of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Truong My Hoa, former Vice-President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Truong Hoa Binh, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Thien Nhan, former Deputy Prime Minister; Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training; Angela Dorn, Minister of Science and Arts of the State of Hesse; representatives of Vietnamese ministries, central sectors, Germany, World Bank… On the side of provincial leaders,  there were Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, agencies and sectors in the province.

Established in 2008, VGU is a public university in cooperation between Vietnam and Germany. After more than 14 years of development, VGU has had more than 1,500 turns of professors from German universities with a high percentage of international students from 20 countries, accounting for 4.6% of the total number of students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam congratulated the symbol of friendship and traditional cooperation, which is a lighthouse in education and training cooperation between Vietnam and Germany. He suggested that in the coming time, the school together with relevant ministries and sectors should focus on effectively implementing all resources to continue building and perfecting the apparatus and management mechanism in a modern and streamlined direction; mobilized all resources and cooperate with partners to continue developing advanced training programs under German standards. The school should also further expand cooperation with enterprises to develop training programs associated with the needs of the labor market in the 4.0 revolution period...
