The visit also aims to strengthen political trust, economic links and all-round cooperation while deepening the Extensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries for peace and prosperity of Asia.
It forms part of Vietnam’s major diplomatic activities in 2015 to actualise the country’s foreign policy of independence, self-determination, multilateral diversification and intensification of relations.
Vietnam and Japan established diplomatic ties in September 1973. In 2014, two-way trade exceeded US$27.6 billion, of which Vietnam’s exports stood at more than US$14.7 billion and imports at nearly US$13 billion. In the first half of this year, the figure reached US$13.9 billion.
