Phu Giao bound for ecological and sustainable development

Yesterday morning (March 28), provincial delegation, led by comrade Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation, had a working session with Phu Giao district’s Party Standing Committee on the local socio-economic situation, national defense and security, Party building, political system building in the first quarter of 2024, orientations and tasks for the following months of the year. The working session was attended by Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee and leaders of a number of relevant departments and sectors.

9 out of 10 communes meeting advanced new-style rural standards

Reporting at the working session, comrade Nguyen Khoa Hai, Secretary of Phu Giao district’s Party Committee said that in the first months of 2024, the district's agricultural production situation was stable. In the district, there are 732 households and establishments applying high technology in agricultural production, an increase of 28 compared to the end of 2023. The entire district now has 117 agricultural production establishments with VietGAP certificates, up 4 compared to the end of 2023. Currently, there are all 10 communes meeting new-style rural standards; 9 out of 10 communes meeting advanced new rural standards under the set of criteria for the period of 2021-2025. The production value of the local industrial sector was estimated at over VND 1.46 trillion, or 22.39% of the year's plan and up 11.96% over the same period. The district’s total retail sales revenue of goods and services revenue was estimated at more than VND 2.49trillion, or 16.64% of the year's plan, up 15.14% over the same period.

In the first quarter, there were 11 newly established enterprises with total capital of VND 75.5 billion; issued 139 new business registration certificates. The entire district is now home to 634 operating enterprises with registered capital of more than VND 5.47 trillion. Comrade Nguyen Khoa Hai said that the district has worked and agreed with Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Co.Ltd. on implementing procedures and submitting them to competent authorities for approval of investment in VSIP IV in Tam Lap commune, striving to complete procedures and start construction in August 2025 to welcome the district’s 6^th Party Congress for the 2025-2030 tenure.

Along with focusing on drastically directing solutions for socio-economic development, digital transformation, administrative procedure reform, removing people and businesses’ obstacles, promoting public investment, disbursement of public investment capital..., in the first quarter of 2024, Phu Giao district also paid attention to well realizing social welfare and taking care of people to celebrate Tet joyfully, safely, healthily and economically, ensuring national defense and security, successfully completing the handover of recruits in 2024 in both quantity and quality. The district’s work of building the Party and building a strong and clean political system continued being carried out effectively.

Creating resources from planning and land

At the working session, leaders of Phu Giao district proposed many issues related to the arrangement of capital to implement traffic projects and some infrastructure works in the district. Specifically, the district currently has the need for medium-term capital in the 2021-2025 period to invest in works and projects identified in the Resolution of the district’s Party congress for the 2020-2025 tenure and urgent projects that are pervasive and create great motivation for development. However, due to low allocation targets for the district, capital does not meet the district's investment needs. The district has also proposed the province to consider creating conditions for capital sources, appraisal and approval of investment policies so that the district has a basis to carry out legal documents for projects arranged for investment preparation in the public investment capital plan in 2024 and medium-term capital for the period of 2021-2025...Phu Giao district also asked for provincial leaders to work with Binh Phuoc province and asked for leaders of Binh Phuoc province to direct Chon Thanh town and Dong Phu district to coordinate with Phu Giao district to research and propose investment in the road connecting Chon Thanh - Phu Giao - Dong Phu to create motivation for socio-economic development of northern communes of Phu Giao district and localities of Chon Thanh town and Dong Phu district.

At the working session with Phu Giao district, leaders of provincial People's Committee, relevant departments and sectors discussed and clarified a number of Phu Giao district’s recommendations related to infrastructure investment and traffic development with regional connection, public land management while suggesting many methods to help the district overcome difficulties in implementing the local economic development tasks, especially solving administrative procedures as well as coordinating with relevant sectors to remove "bottlenecks".

Concluding the working session, Mr. Loi praised and spoke highly of the efforts by Phu Giao district in implementing the local socio-economic development tasks from the beginning of the year until now. Many economic targets have had positive changes, some of which have reached higher growth than the average level of the province.

Regarding some key tasks in the second quarter, the following months of 2024 and the coming time, Mr.Loi asked for the district to focus on economic development, remove businesses ‘difficulties and create favorable conditions for businesses to develop. In addition, the district needs to soon announce the planning and list of projects calling for investment. However, He noted: "…planning, attracting investment, developing industry, agriculture, urban areas, tourism or any other field must also develop in an ecological and sustainable direction”. The district also needs to consider balancing its own regular spending, creating resources from land use planning and planning to set up a project to turn Phu Giao into a town in the near future.
