Simple but effective ideas of a worker

From concern, exploration, enthusiasm for their work, workers have come up with many creative ideas to improve machinery, equipment, and operations to streamline production processes, contributing to improving efficiency for their company.  Some initiatives are simple but highly effective...

To increase labor productivity

With creativeness and enthusiasm, Nguyen Thi Hue Trang, a grassroots trade union member of Dai Hoa Co., Ltd. (Uyen Hung ward, Tan Uyen town), launched many initiatives and improvements to improve production efficiency, and the most noteworthy initiative is "Removing redundant movements in production". Trang told that while working she noticed that production activities in her company had many lines that did not follow standard operating procedures (SOP), leading to redundant movements.

For example, a sewing worker, instead of completing the sewing process and transferring products to another stage, cut excess threads or made excess stitches... This affected next stages, prolonged waiting time, interrupted the production process and directly affected the output. Instead, she proposed to arrange a working position in the final stage to clean, cut excess threads on shoe surface and make a correct number of Sop needles. Since this initiative was applied, not only has it ensured a smooth production flow, uninterrupted activities in production lines, but also helped workers increase labor productivity.

In addition, she also has the initiative to "Overcome waste of raw materials and effort in production". Talking about this initiative, Trang said that there was a time when production activities at her company made errors frequently, causing waste of materials and huge costs for the company, affecting the company reputation and the income of workers. Therefore, Trang spent many days on pondering, observing production lines of the company to find out the cause of this error, including reasons that the management staff did not confirm exact form of customer's orders, new workers were trained but lacked experience. Since then, she developed some ideas to solve this problem.

She proposed that the company's production planning department clearly confirms customer orders and requirements, raw materials, samples, product colors for production management department at factories, production lines to not be confused about design, size as well as color and standard. At the same time, production lines were equipped with yellow baskets used for defective products that can be repaired and reused, and red baskets used for waste products that cannot be reused. In product classification and inspection process, if there are 3 - 5 defective products in the red basket, the line will be immediately stop to find out the reason and fix it, this limits the mass production of defective products.   

To bring benefits for the business

Nguyen Phuoc Hau, Trade Union Chairman of Dai Hoa Company, said that every year, in response to the patriotic emulation movement launched by the superior Trade Unions, the grassroots Trade Union actively cooperates with the company to launch the movement among company workers; in which the focus is "Good Labor - Creative Labor", "Promoting initiatives, technical improvements"... in order to encourage creativity, improve machinery and equipment to streamline the production process, improve labor efficiency, product quality.

Every trade union member or worker, who has an idea that is applied into actual production, will be rewarded promptly with 5 to 10 million VND, depending on the effectiveness of the idea and practical application. As a result, trade union members and workers have enthusiastically responded to this movement, there have been hundreds of initiatives and technical improvements that not only help the company save production costs but also improve labor productivity, increase income for workers and profits for the company.

Workers at the company have had many creative initiatives to streamline the production process, contributing to improving the efficiency of the company. Some simple but very effective initiatives help handling inadequacies in daily labor and production and Nguyen Thi Hue Trang is a good example. Trang's initiatives have been applied and remedied the situation of returned orders, not only reducing the waste of time, raw materials, and labor but also increasing productivity and product quality, improving the company reputation”.
