Woman over 10 year living in hospital

Update: 12-05-2010 | 00:00:00

In the third Department of Internal Medicine, one woman has been taking the hospital as her home for over 10 years. She has been helped by physicians and relatives of patients. Her name is Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, born in 1960, once residing at Binh My village, Tan Uyen district. She suffers from base dow (bulging eyeballs) and mental retardation.

In talking to reporters, she could only remember the time 20 years ago when her parents passed away. She had to live in hardship by selling lottery until 2000 when she suffered from base dow which caused her to lose weight, and breathe hard. She was sent to hospital and decided not to return home because she was afraid of being a burden to her already poor relatives.

Physician Le Duy Phong, head of the department said that prior to the Tet holiday, her health impaired because of the bigger thyroid gland. At that time, Binh Duong hospital fulfilled procedures and sent her to Cho Ray hospital. However, not long after that she returned to Binh Duong hospital for failing to pay for hospital fees.

After days wandering around the hospital, she can only afford VND-5,000 meal for her whole day. Her silent life against disease was a pity and she is in need of help. For help, please contact us at 543 Le Hong Phong, Phu Hoa Ward, Thu Dau Mot town or visit her at the third Department of Internal Medicine in Binh Duong hospital.
