Nearly 5 years of implementing the Smart City Construction Project, Binh Duong Smart Zone has been awarded 3 times in a row by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) - a forum gathering nearly 200 prosperous smart cities in the world and honored as one of 21 regions with typical smart city development strategies (Smart 21). Recently, Binh Duong Smart Zone for the first time entered the top 7 regions with typical smart city development strategies in 2021.

Binh Duong entering the top 7 regions with typical smart city development strategies in 2021 is once again affirmation of the breakthrough and development direction of the province in the past period as well as the next steps of consistency, creativity, breakthrough, and efficiency. Implemented since 2016, the Binh Duong Smart City Construction Project has progressed step by step in accordance with the conditions and potentials of the locality. The direction of development under right focus and component projects put in it the highest political determination and the participation of the Party Committee, the government, the people and the business community. The project of building Binh Duong commercial city brings practical effects in local socio-economic life. Breakthrough development, no matter which locality or field, still has to accept many difficulties and challenges, especially in the early stages, Binh Duong is no exception. However, under high political determination, solidarity, and consensus of working together for the goal of development and an increasingly prosperous life, Binh Duong has overcome all difficulties and achieved success. The destination of smart city is still in the future, but at present, the socio-economic development of Binh Duong has proven the effectiveness of a right and strategic direction that the province has built and developed. In 2020 and the first 6 months of 2021, together with the whole nation, Binh Duong also encountered many difficulties in construction, development, and social security stabilization, but the province's achievements with the targets of development have been achieved and exceeded from the set plan as the very convincing evidence. Industry, trade, services and agriculture continued to grow and the value of trade surplus increased; attracting investment, especially foreign investment, which was impressive in terms of capital as well as technology has been effective. Social security continues to be ensured; people's living standards are gradually improved; per capita income is at the top of the nation in 2020. Along with that, the provincial competitiveness index and the administrative reform index of Binh Duong have also returned to the top of the nation. Innovation, creativity, and breakthrough development are steadfast for Binh Duong to reach prosperity and intelligence.
