Employees are reassured at work

On April 1st, at the regular session, the Cabinet agreed with National Assembly’s petition for reconsidering Article 60 under Social Insurance (SI) Law 2014 regarding employees could choose to receive one-time social insurance sum, if social insurance paying period were not enough to receive retirement pension. Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Mr. Le Thanh Nhon, Chairman of provincial Labor Federation, about this issue.

 

- The Cabinet agreed with National Assembly’s petition for amending Article 60 under SI Law 2014. In order for employees to keep their mind on works, could you please explain more this information?

 

- This is a timely decision of the Cabinet. In recent days, employees in provincial companies have worried and not agreed with Article 60 under SI Law 2014 regarding paying one social insurance sum.

Due to unstable working conditions, health condition of the employees, recruitment requirements of businesses and so on, there are some employees that cannot work until the end of working ages or find new jobs at ages of 40 and older, thus are not be able to enroll voluntary SI until being eligible for retirement pension.

Therefore, most employees expect that one-time social insurance subsidy should have an appropriate procedure and flexible implementation to be in tune with reality and aspirations of employees.

 

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoang, Chairman of Shyang Hung Cheng Company’s Trade Union, presented his opinion on SI Law to provincial Labor Federation and provincial Social Insurance.

 

- Which activities have Trade Unions in the province had to communicate this news to employees, sir?

 

- In recent days, provincial Labor Federation has directed our cadres to communicate, explain social security policies under SI Law 2014 to employees, and collect opinions, aspirations of employees to report to competent authorities.

On April 1st, provincial Labor Federation organized a meeting to disseminate new amendments of SI Law 2014 for all Trade Union cadres. At the meeting, we delivered the letter from Vietnam Labor Federation’s President Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung to reassure all Union cadres and employees. At the same time, all opinions from Union cadres and employees will be fully noted and sent to competent authorities.

 

- Sir, although the Cabinet agreed with National Assembly’s petition for amending Article 60 under SI Law 2014, many employees have not known about this information. Which plans has provincial Labor Federation devised to promote propaganda?

 

- Based on legitimate aspirations of employees, on April 1st, the Cabinet agreed with National Assembly’s petition for amending Article 60 under SI Law 2014, which allow employees to receive one-time social insurance subsidy. This amendment will take effect from January 1st 2016. From now until December 31st 2015, employee's social insurance policies stay the same according to current SI Law.

However, due to increasing concerns of employees, provincial Labor Federation directed cadres to keep closely contacts with grassroots levels, take all measures to stabilize labor relations. Trade Unions have explained, encouraged, and disseminated SI Law 2014, purposes and significance of social welfare policies of this law among employees.

At the same time, Trade Unions at all levels have promoted propaganda of provincial directions, letter of Vietnam Labor Federation’s President Mr. Dang Ngoc Tung to all cadres and employees; simultaneously, Union cadres have listened and noted employees’ opinions, aspirations to report timely to competent authorities.

I believe, with these above measures and the news that the Cabinet agreed with National Assembly’s petition for amending Article 60 under SI Law 2014, employees will understand, agree, and feel assured to continue their works.
