Farmers in unity to develop economy and construct new rural areas

Towards agricultural development, new rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction, Binh Duong provincial Association of Farmers has promoted the movement of "Farmers emulate good production, business, and unity to help each other get rich and save money for sustainable poverty reduction”. Thereon, the member farmers have united and actively participated in agricultural economic development and new rural construction.

To play the roles

Every year, all levels of farmer associations in the province encourage their members to register for the movement of farmers emulating good production and business, gaining the registration of over 80%. Through review, more than 35,000 households each year achieve the title of good farmers in production and business at all levels, meeting and exceeding the emulation targets. The quality and effectiveness of the movement have been improved as many farmers have large-scale production, business capital of billions of VND, and annual income from several hundred million VND to billions. Besides, many examples of farmers who overcome difficulties are determined to rise up and bring into play the advantages of the locality to exploit the potential of land and labor, develop an efficient production model, become typical good production and business households at all levels, and billionaire farmers.

The movement of good farmers in production and business has contributed to building and strengthening the association's organization to be more and more strongly by enhancing the role of the association in agricultural development and new rural construction. In order to develop the association's activities, and create conditions to help each other in production and business, and build a new countryside, the farmers' associations at all levels in the province have actively mobilized and established farmer grassroots associations to improve their working roles.

In 2021-2022, despite being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the collective of the Billionaire Farmers' Union has united and coordinated to organize practical activities. Since its establishment, the union has carried out social and charity work to award study-loving scholarships to members' children with difficult circumstances, supported the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, donated 1 apartment house of love. The branch's movements step by step come to life as farmer members enthusiastically support and bring efficiency in production and business to play.

Tong Van Huong - Branch Head of the Billionaire Farmers Association, said: “During 2022-2027, the Executive Board of the branch strives to coordinate in organizing for members to learn domestic and international models, to coordinate with units to organize activities to sell safe agricultural products to workers in industrial parks and clusters in the province. Besides, the branch cooperates in implementing social charity programs for the children of farmers with difficult circumstances in the localities, increase the number of members and unite to continue to develop production and business operations.”

Working together to build a new countryside

The movement of "Farmers do good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" and "Farmers emulate building new rural areas and civilized cities" have become the focus of economic - rural society. The movement to encourage farmers to promote the spirit of solidarity, mutual affection to help reduce poverty, and strive to develop production with active participation in the implementation of the new rural construction program. The movement of farmers doing good business has helped the association propagate and mobilize member farmers to contribute to the construction of rural infrastructure, and participate in street cleaning and dredging in-field canals and exploiting drain.

Upholding the spirit of solidarity to help each other, farmer members are willing to participate and enthusiastically support the association movements. Ho Van Thuong in Minh Thanh commune of Dau Tieng district has a model of 1 ha of durian trees meeting VietGAP standards, 300 square meters of bird's nest house, 13 hectares of rubber trees, and a place to provide free herbal medicine for people inside and outside the area. On average, Thuong's herbal medicine supply point supports more than 400 people every year. He also helps members to borrow loans without interest, supports to build roads, and gives gifts to children of poor farmers and socially privileged families. Dang Van Xuan from Tan Hiep commune of Phu Giao district succeeded with a high-tech application of citrus planting model for 4 hectares of durian trees, 4 hectares of rubber trees, and 3 hectares of Thai jackfruit in his family business, based on which Xuan actively supported the Farmers Union Fund, participate in supporting the construction of houses of passionate and share experience with farmers to grow crops of higher yields.

In 2017-2022, the farmers' associations at all levels in the province have directly helped more than 350 farmer households escape poverty according to the province's criteria. Associations at all levels also mobilize members to participate in financial support to build great solidarity houses, houses of compassion, and help create jobs for workers at farms and businesses.

The initiative of farmers' associations at all levels and the efforts of all farmers in the province have brought the movement and association's work to sustainable development, making an important contribution to the local socio-economic development, especially in the process of new rural construction.
