Happy Tet has come to lodging houses

Update: 05-01-2023 | 13:17:04

Tet gifts have been continuously transferred to lodging houses by Trade Union officials at all levels, departments, branches and local authorities, to bring a warm and meaningful spring to workers away from home.

Departments and branches in the province visit and give gifts to workers having extremely difficult circumstances at lodging houses in Phu Hoa ward of Thu Dau Mot city.

To warm the hearts of workers

Thi Sac, born in Kien Giang province, is a worker of Ao Vang Company in Quarter 5, Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, felt so touched, after receiving necessities and 1 million VND cash from the provincial leaders.  She said: “I started working at my company not long ago, then I encounter difficulties because the company suffers falling order number, does not have overtime job, I only receive a basic salary of less than 5 million VND/month. These days, I continuously receive many Tet gifts, total gift value is up to my whole month's salary, so I am very happy. My husband and I planned not to return to our hometown, because we do not have enough money. Now we are supported with gifts and money, hence maybe we will return home to celebrate Tet”.

At Ut Long lodging house, where Thi Sac is staying, there were dozens of disadvantaged families receiving Tet gifts and money from various levels. Nguyen Thi Lan, born in Dong Thap province, a tenant here said: “Most workers here are having a hard time, this year they will not return to their hometown to celebrate Tet. In the past few days, officials of this ward have come to our lodging house to verify each person's circumstance so that the Ward People's Committee will support more Tet gifts, we are very happy. All workers want to stay in Binh Duong to be able to take good care of our children. As we receive many supports like these on occasion of Tet, all people are very happy."

At lodging houses across the province, trade union officials at all levels went to each house to give Tet gifts. Ones having special difficult circumstances will be taken care of more carefully. For example, Pham Thi Ngoc Diem, Esquel Garment Manufacturing company (VSIP 1) lost her husband due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is raising her children alone.

Diem received not only gifts and money but also necessary household appliances supported by Provincial Labor Confederation. Diem is one of 56 cases supported by the Provincial Labor Confederation under a program for workers whose family members died from Covid-19. This meaningful activity has helped many workers' families to ease their difficulties and have a warmer and more meaningful spring.

In addition to the care of all administration and union levels, in last days of the old year, owners of lodging houses in the province have supported workers by room rent exemption and decrease. In An Dien commune of Ben Cat town, many lodging house’s owners have joined this. The average rent reduction is from 300,000 VND to 500,000 VND/month and during the last 2 months of the old year.

Besides, some lodging house’s owners also buy and give necessities to workers on Tet holiday. For example, recently, Dau Thi Hanh and her husband, owners of a 50-room lodging house in Tan Lap hamlet, bought 50 sets of Tet gifts for each room, each gift included 10kg of rice, and other necessities worth about 400,000 VND each to give to their tenants.

Don't let anyone be deprived on Tet holiday

In addition to 46,000 gifts from the Provincial People's Committee, 100,000 parts of the Provincial Labor Confederation were presented to disadvantaged workers staying in Binh Duong during Tet holiday, along with many activities to celebrate the spring and Tet holiday for workers, authorities at all levels in the province are putting more efforts to take care of employees at the end of the year.

Nguyen Van An, Chairman of Hoa Phu Ward People's Committee, said: “The number of workers residing in this area is increasing, thus the responsibility of local administration is also higher each year. In previous years, the locality mobilized to give about 300 gifts to needy employees, this number has increased to 500 gifts this year. Local administration is continuing to review cases until the days before Tet, those in need will be supported with necessities. No one will be deprived on Tet holiday."

In Phu Loi ward, Thu Dau Mot city, the ward People's Committee has assigned officers, since beginning of December 2022, to review the number of needy workers staying in Binh Duong during Tet. Lai Thai Hoa, Vice Chairman of Phu Loi Ward People's Committee said: “This year, because businesses face difficulties in production, employees' incomes have decreased deeply in the last months of the year, so the number of workers staying in the province during Tet time is higher. Up to now, the Ward People's Committee has prepared 500 gifts, but is expected to increase in the coming days. Although it is difficult to mobilize donations, the local administration tries to ensure that everyone and every house has a happy Tet”.

This year, all localities have very early reviewed and learned about workers’ living conditions, the number of workers staying in Binh Duong during Tet, hence the authorities are active in organizing Tet-caring activities for workers. As in Thu Dau Mot City, there are about 15,000 employees of 212 enterprises staying in Binh Duong during Tet. Thereby, the City Labor Federation, People's Council, and People's Committee spent on thousands of Tet gifts. Businesses in the city also joined hands to donate more 12,000 gifts... The total value of gifts is up to nearly 10 billion VND supported by different sources.
