Project of Social Housing and Accommodation for Workers 2021-2025 with orientation to 2030 urgently completed

On March 1-3, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting to listen to the Department of Construction report on the Project for the development of social housing, workers' accommodation in 2021-2025, with orientation towards 2030 (referred to as the project) and the adjustment of the housing development plan in 2021-2025.

At the meeting, the consulting unit reported on the adjustment of the housing development plan in the province for the period 2021-2025. Accordingly, the province will construct an additional approximately 25,277,583 square meters of floor area, equivalent to about 190,966 housing units; striving for an average residential area per capita of 33.5 square meters, with solid housing quality reaching 99.9% (urban areas achieving 100%, rural areas achieving 99.8%), with no more simple housing.

According to the project report, by 2025, aiming towards 2030, the total number of individuals in need of social housing is 129,212. Specifically, by 2025, it is 42,816 individuals with a floor area of approximately 1,926,720 square meters; for the period from 2026 to 2030, it is 86,396 individuals with a floor area of around 4,319,800 square meters. During the period 2021-2030, it is expected that the province will invest in approximately 172,735 social housing units. The total land area is about 613.3 hectares; the estimated floor area will reach 9,521,462 square meters, accommodating around 636,796 people. The total investment capital is about 87.236 trillion Vietnamese dong, which is more than twice the target set by the government.

Directive at the meeting, on adjusting the housing development plan, Mr. Vo Van Minh proposed that units adjust appropriate targets; focus on adjusting the location, area calling for investment in housing development projects. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested units to closely follow the province's urban development program. Regarding the project, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requests localities to promptly review information thoroughly, supplement, and complete the project to submit to the Department of Construction for consideration by the provincial People's Committee. The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee also proposes establishing a Steering Committee to implement the project.
