Provincial IPs’Trade Union places rights, interests of trade unionists and workers at center

Over the past 5 years, provincial Industrial Parks (IPs)’ Trade Union constantly innovated operational contents and forms, putting trade unionists and workers’ legitimate interests  and rights at the center of trade union activities.

Be proactive in taking care of

During the Covid-19 outbreak with complicated developments, provincial IPs’ Trade Union implemented many practical activities to take care of and support trade unionists and workers affected by the pandemic. Noticeably, provincial Industrial Parks (IPs)’ Trade Union promptly implemented the support policies of the Government, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) and the province among trade unionists and employees. Specifically, there were 4,203 cases of trade unionists and employees with their working hours reduced or their labor contracts terminated, due to the reduction of orders by enterprises. Under the VGCL’s Decision No.6696/QDTLD, they were supported with the amount of over VND2.1 billion. There  were also 20,785 cases provided with food support for 3 meals on the spot with the amount of more than VND20.78 trillion; 10,318 F0 cases with the support amount of VND 31 billion; 5,945 F1 cases with the support amount of VND 8.9 billion...

Provincial IPs’ Trade Union visits and offers gifts to trade unionists and workers with difficult circumstances

In addition, provincial IPs’ Trade Union guided employers  to borrow capital to pay wages to employees; established a group to connect enterprises, employees and State management agencies to guide and remove difficulties in order to create favorable conditions for enterprises to submit dossiers of requesting policy settlement for employees; organized dialogues between employers, trade unions and localities to listen to feedback and suggestions of enterprises and employees on the situation of production, business and life during the pandemic period, thereby taking solutions to support businesses, maintain jobs for workers... Along with that, provincial IPs’Trade Union and its branches maintained and innovated care activities with a sense of responsibility for trade unionists and employees, thereby opportunely encouraging them to  overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives and work with peace of mind.

Specifically, through the program of "Welfare fair", "Spring bus of gratitude", "Tet rice tray", "Tet reunion"..., provincial IPs’ Trade Union donated 3,000 gifts worth VND500,000 each in cash to disadvantaged workers with a total value of VND 1.5 billion; offered 4,616 free bus tickets worth over VND 4.4 billion to workers who could not return their hometown to celebrate Tet with their families; donated 11,500 pairs of “banh chung” (square sticky rice cake) to trade unionists who stayed in Binh Duong for Tet with a total value of VND 2.6 billion; signed a contract with 38 welfare units selling goods and necessities with discounts up to 50% for trade unionists and employees... over the past 5 years.

Flexibility in protection of interests and rights

Along with being flexible in care activities, provincial IPs’ Trade Union was also proactive in protecting trade unionists and workers ‘legitimate rights and interests. Noticeably, provincial IPs’ Trade Unions at all levels were proactive in coordinating and implementing grassroots democracy regulations, contributing to building up a harmonious, stable and progressive labor relationship in enterprises. In addition to actively coordinating in organizing workers' conferences, grassroots trade unions in enterprises also flexibly applied many forms of organizing dialogues at the workplace in line with the production situation of enterprises...

As a result, every year, there were over 85% of enterprises with trade union locals organizing dialogues at the workplace. They were also proactive to build, negotiate and sign collective labor agreements with employers. The number of collective agreements signed annually is increasing with higher quality and more favorable terms for employees. Particularly, in 2018, the number of enterprises with trade union locals under provincial IPs’ Trade Union signing collective deals was only 202 or 50% of total. As of 2023, there have been 328 signing collective deals or 70.2% of total.

In addition, trade union locals actively participated in formulating bonus regulations, pay scales and labor rules while making suggestions on adjusting and promulgating more and more appropriate regimes and policies in enterprises, ensuring harmony between the interests of employees and employers. Provincial IPs’ Trade Union also actively participated in provincial inter-sectoral inspection teams, supervising and checking the observance of labor laws in enterprises in the local IPs, thereby promptly detecting violations, recommending enterprises to rectify, proposing to handle enterprises with serious violations, contributing to opportunely protecting employees’ legitimate rights and interests.

Le Thi Hong Nhung, Chairwoman of Provincial IPs’ Trade Union said that in the coming time, provincial IPs’ Trade Union will further improve the efficiency of trade union activities towards grassroots to meet the requirements and tasks in the period of accelerating industrialization, modernization and international integration while well performing the functions and duties of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of trade unionists and employees.
