Update: 17-11-2022 | 05:59:57

Besides taking care of material lives, improving the cultural and spiritual life for workers is always concerned by trade unions in the province. Activities and movements carried out by trade unions at all levels over the past time have created healthy and useful playgrounds for workers, and contributing to the well implementation of the movement of all people uniting to build a cultural life among employees.

To create more healthy playground

After being affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, cultural, artistic and sports activities in the province have been restarted when the epidemic is under control. One of the exciting activities, attracting thousands of participants recently organized by the provincial Trade Union, namely the contest of ‘Singing workers in 2022’. As the Organizing Committee's theme stated, the contest has become a meeting place after the end of working shift for thousands of workers in the province.

As one of the participating contestants, Nguyen Kim Hong from Rochdale Spears Co. Ltd. in Thuan An city, said that the contest was a very meaningful playground. Joining the practice and taking the contest, Hong and her colleagues had very happy and comfortable hours of entertainment after the working shift; thereby, having more positive energy to work effectively. The contest attracted 55 participating units with nearly 200 entries and over 5,000 turns of fans watching and cheering.

In order to create a more healthy and useful cultural and spiritual playground for the staff, civil servants and public employees of the province, contributing to building and improving the quality of grassroots cultural life, at the end of July, the provincial Trade Union continued to organize the festival of "Singing cadres, civil servants and public employees" in 2022, with the participation of 16 competing teams and more than 800 turns of contestants and fans. Along with that, the provincial Trade Union also organized a program of "Welfare for union members" with 24 stalls, attracting and serving more than 6,000 union members and workers on their visits and shopping at the price of VND 0 or special discounts at 5 - 50%.

Trade unions at all levels in the province are also interested in organizing and coordinating with other units to organize many meaningful programs for workers' beneficiaries such as “Union Day" associated with "Welfare booth for union members" and cultural and artistic activities, and sports festivals. The activities have facilitated more than 62,000 turns of union members and workers to access sightseeing, shopping, entertainment and relaxation.

Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran – Deputy President of the provincial Trade Union, said that with a large number of workers, trade unions at all levels in the province, over the past time, have organized and coordinated with the cultural sector and other related units to organize many movements, cultural and artistic activities, physical training and sports along with exciting emulation to take care of the spiritual life of union members and employees. Although the organized activities and movements are still not plenty, they have created healthy and useful playgrounds contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of cadres, civil servants and public employees in the province, especially immigrant workers.

More attention needed

Along with organizing the above activities, trade unions at all levels also promote efficiency and well exploit the functions of cultural institutions to take good care of the cultural and spiritual life of workers. Tran said that up to now, the provincial Trade Union has invested in building and completing 2 trade union organizations. In which, Binh Duong Labor Culture Center in Viet Sing Residential Area of Thuan An city has been put into operation to promote the effectiveness of taking care of the cultural and spiritual life of workers.

In addition, the Cultural Center for Workers in Ben Cat Town was also inaugurated and is about to be put into operation to meet the needs of daily activities and entertainment for union members and workers in the locality. In addition to the above 2 cultural institutions, the provincial Trade Union continues to coordinate with the specialized departments of the Vietnamese General Trade Union and relevant departments and agencies of the province to advise the Vietnamese General Trade Union and the provincial People's Committee to consider and arrange the land fund for building trade union cultural institutions to serve the needs of daily life and entertainment for workers in localities like Bau Bang district, Di An city, and Tan Uyen town.

According to Tran, despite being interested, compared with the number of enterprises as well as the number of workers in the province, the actual facilities, equipment, and space of cultural institutions in general in the province is currently not suitable for the conditions of a province with a large number of workers. Moreover, the operating mechanism of institutions managed by the State and trade unions still has many obstacles and problems. Institutions built by the private sector leave workers unable to access by their financial conditions.

In order to create favorable conditions for workers to enjoy and improve their spiritual and cultural life, contributing to the well implementation of the movement of all people uniting to build a cultural life among employees, the provincial Trade Union proposed to allocate more land and space to create green parks in residential areas with a large number of workers so that workers and their children have a place to relax and rest in the evening and during the day. In addition, the province needs to study and organize an annual festival of businesses that meet the cultural enterprise standard in association with rewards and honors for businesses that have achieved such title for 3 years or more. According to Tran, in order to do that, it is necessary to have the effective cooperation of branches, localities and trade unions at all levels. When cared for, workers' spirits will become more comfortable, and they will be more motivated to work more productively and efficiently.
