Stay at home and not doing rapid tests propulsorily

Update: 16-07-2021 | 13:02:37

In the face of the epidemic situation of many complicated developments, in some localities, people having no symptoms of Covid-19 infection but still gather up to take samples for rapid testing of Covid-19 antigen at  services. The results are unknown, but first of all, there is a risk of cross-infection and disease spread because of too many people crowding up.

Information recorded in reality in localities that are hot spots of Covid-19 epidemics in the province in recent days shows that the number of people rushing to do Covid-19 antigen rapid test service is increasing day by day. Accordingly, in some private medical facilities, in recent days, there has been a steady stream of people standing close to each other extending from the hospital premises to the street to wait for the "negative confirmation" service.

Notably at Ngoc Hong General Hospital in Dong Tan neighborhood of Di An ward in Di An city, In the past few days, despite the large number of people coming to test, this facility did not completely pay attention to the regulations on Covid-19  prevention and control during the time of receiving rapid test service for visiting people who just crowded up and gathered proposing a high risk of spreading and outbreak of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, according to the recommendations of the health industry, people who do not have symptoms related to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus should not go to the Covid-19 antigen rapid test service on their own. Accordingly, rapid test results and even Realtime-PCR test results are only valid for determining/confirming that such participant getting a rapid test, PCR test is negative or positive right at the time. It is not valid to confirm that such person will not be infected with Covid-19 in the future, so they do not necessarily need to perform such rapid test at all cost.

Doctor Do Viet Hung, Director of Di An city Medical Center, recommends that people should not arbitrarily go for a quick test service when there are no symptoms of the disease. This only costs service participants themselves and takes time and is at high risk of being infected with Covid-19 during the time of crowding and waiting for the service. In addition, the health sector also recommends that people do not arbitrarily buy Covid-19 antigen test kits to make at home because if the buyer is not knowledgeable about medical equipment and it is easy to encounter the situation of buying counterfeit goods of poor quality, not to mention, even if the genuine product is bought, the lack of professional expertise and lack of experience in doing a quick test for Covid-19 antigens also gives inaccurate results.
