The first session of the 13th Legislature of National Assembly kicks off

 Today, July 21, the first session of the 13th Legislature of National Assembly kicks off after a press conference was held on July 19th announcing agenda and key contents of the first session which is expected to last for 15 days.

 Deputy Head of National Assembly Office, Mr. Nguyen Si Dzung said that the session will be listening to reports of Election Committee on results of the delegate election for the 13th legislature and reports of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on proposals of voters nationwide.

 In this first session, the NA will stay focused on considering office positions, reserving 11 days to investigate delegate eligibility before approving Resolution on confirming delegate eligibility and selecting titles of State’s senior leadership including NA Speaker, NA Deputy Speaker, members of Standing Committee of the NA, members to Ethnicity Council, People’s Extreme Court Judge,  NA deputies and NA meeting sessions’ secretaries, State President, Vice President,  Prime Minister, Vietnam Procuracy’s Chief, General State’s Auditor, ministers and deputies, and other members in the organization of government.

 As for law-making, NA will consider to approve Resolution on law-making program in 2012, Resolution on researching and amending the Constitution and forming Constitution Amending Committee. At the session, NA will be listening to reports on socio-economic status and State’s budget in the first 6 months of the year and launching plans for the next 6 months.

 Addressing the press conference, Mr. Tran Dinh Dan, Chief of NA Office stated that the session will decide key matters of people’s concern. The selection of leadership is to serve the State and the people. Delegates selected will represent the voters who entrusted them to key positions.

as for decision of Constitution changes, Mr. Tran Dinh Dan said that changes are important but must be in conformity with new stage’s demand, staying stick to socialism transitional stage with addition of socio-economic strategies for 2011-20 period. The amendments will be discussed before any decision is made.
