Towards a model and smart Bach Dang

Bach Dang commune in Tan Uyen town has become a typical and bright locality of new countryside construction in the province. The best evidence is that, up to now, infrastructure such as electricity, roads, schools, stations and social welfare works in the locality have been gradually invested to become complete and spacious.

A pivotal model

In 2010, Bach Dang commune was selected by Binh Duong provincial People's Committee to pilot the construction of new countryside. Under the leadership of the Party Committee, the People's Council, the commune People's Committee in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and mass organizations, the Executive Board of the hamlets made efforts to propagate and mobilize people to implement. Thereby, the awareness of the people about the program of building new countryside has increasingly been raised. Vo Hoang Dung, Head of the Executive Board of Dieu Hoa hamlet at Bach Dang commune, said: “The program of building a new countryside is always approved by the people who are proactively working with the Party Committee and local authority to donate land and assets on the land. In addition, the commune has a movement to build new rural households that meet the criteria of green, clean, beautiful, and bright countryside when people together share beautiful living spaces, plant flowers, install lights on the roads, and create a new look for the locality.”

According to leaders of People's Committee of Bach Dang commune, in 2013, the commune has met the new rural standard with the orientation of green, friendly development, not attracting industry, and continuing to invest in improving the quality of building new countryside. In 2015-2020, Bach Dang commune has maintained all 19 new rural criteria. From 2019, Bach Dang commune has built new and improved countryside, which has contributed to promote the local socio-economic development; the agricultural production value in 2020 reached over VND 72 billion, increasing by 122% from 2015. Currently, the average income of the commune reaches VND 62 million a person a year, increasing by 1.97 times from 2014.

According to Nguyen Thanh Sang, Deputy Chairman of Bach Dang Commune People's Committee, the biggest lesson in rural construction is the determination and solidarity of the Party Committee, authority and people. The main subjective role is the people, by the people and directly benefiting and combining mobilization of socialization in the implementation of the goals and the programs to achieve the goal of bringing up comprehensively rural development according to the direction of gradually raising civilization, material and spiritual life of the rural population.

Towards smart villages

Binh Duong provincial People's Committee issued a pilot plan to build "smart villages" in Bach Dang commune in 2020-2025. Accordingly, "smart villages" are built with the goal of creating the places to gather many initiatives on current matters and needs in the community such as technology, agriculture, employment, and labor productivity improvement for rural people, community cohesion, health, education, energy, waste treatment, living area, and green and clean environment protection.

The specific goal of the plan is to effectively implement the new rural planning project with a vision to 2030, which has been approved to promote urban agricultural economic development and implement the plan of quality improvement for specialty orchards associated with the development of ecotourism in the area. At the same time, quality of operations of cooperative groups and cooperatives is consolidated to improve the support for farmers in finding outputs for agricultural products. On the other hand, the commune continues to strengthen agricultural extension measures and transfer science and technology along with supporting capital resources in agricultural production associated with synchronous infrastructure development; to facilitate diversified supply of materials and goods for agricultural production and purchase of agricultural products; to upgrade and expand rural roads and create favorable conditions for people's travel and agricultural production.

For the time tom come, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Bach Dang commune will focus on building model new countryside, model orchards, and model residential areas in association with building "smart villages" and promoting economic development of urban agriculture and plans to improve quality of specialty orchards associated with ecotourism development. The commune creates environment and favorable conditions to bring into play its advantages and internal resources by strongly attracting external resources in building new and sustainable countryside. Bach Dang commune strives to reach new model rural standards by 2025 with the average income of over VND 83 million a person a year.

It can be said that in the future, the commune would be a worth living place, friendly with the natural environment as well as a place to develop smart agriculture, ecotourism to become a green symbol for Binh Duong. From the unification of the concept and approach of "smart villages", Bach Dang commune will create a premise towards building new smart rural commune for the time to come and to ensure the construction of a new countryside associated with the industrial and urban development of the province towards the goal of sustainable rural development and harmonizing socio-economic, environmental and cultural effects.
