Employees want to stick with Binh Duong

At the recent meeting between voters, trade union officials with delegates of provincial People's Council, more than 20 opinions related to the groups of issues on social housing, attraction and retaining ofemployees, social insurance; healthcare, construction of cultural institutions, kindergartens for workers' children, and food safety were sent to delegates of provincial People's Council.

Desire to live peacefully

That is the long-standing desire of many low-income workers, especially immigrants. Voter Tran Thi Thu Thao, from Vinh Nghia Shoes Co., Ltd. in Ben Cat town said that she is an immigrant and has lived and worked in Binh Duong for many years and has considered Binh Duong as her second hometown. With the current income, if spending smartly every month, she can only save a little of money. Therefore, buying land and building a house to settle down is beyond her family’s financial capacity. “For many low-income workers like me, now there is only hope to buy social houses. However, with my current monthly income of more than VND 7 million, am I eligible to buy social housing?”, she said.

Also sharing the same sentiments, voter Dang Thanh Liem from Nam Phuong NB Co., Ltd. in Thuan An city said that the province has focused on investing in building social houses for low-income workers, especially immigrants, helping them live and work in peace and contentment. "Many employees do not know information and policies on loan support and where will they contact to buy social houses?", she said.

Regarding this issue, Le Quang Vinh, Head of the Housing and Real Estate Market Management Division under provincial Department of Construction said that Binh Duong has many lodging facilities, basically meeting the needs of people’s accommodation. Along with that, the province has further focused on implementing a project "Investing in the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income people and workers in the 2021-2030 period". Accordingly, the province is focusing on housing development for the groups of people who need support to improve houses with the target of developing about 84,000 social housing units for employees in the period of 2021-2030.

In order to achieve the above goal, provincial Department of Construction has advised provincial People's Committee to approve a policy on setting up the Project on Social Housing Development for the period of 2021-2025, with orientation to 2030. The project is in the process of being completed for submitting to the competent authority for approval. Employees can refer to the website of provincial Department of Construction at binhduong.gov.vn to find out information about social housing projects, a list of eligible subjects to sign contracts to buy and rent social housing units under the regulations.

Regarding a policy on loan support to buy and rent social housing units in the province, according to provincial Social Policy Bank, employees can go to the headquarters of provincial Social Policy Bank and its branches or on the electronic portal of the bank to be provided with information about the loan policy to buy and rent social housing units.

Stable job, income

At the conference, voters were also particularly interested in the production and business activities of enterprises that are facing difficulties. Voter Nguyen Thi Hue Trang from Dai Hoa Co., Ltd. in Tan Uyen city said that since late 2022, many companies have stopped operating, making the lives of employees get difficult. "Many workers want the province to have plans and measures to support businesses to stabilize production so that workers can stabilize their lives and avoid unemployment that easily causes social evils", she suggested.

According to Pham Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA), anticipating businesses and employees’ difficulties, the province has also had many solutions to support them to overcome difficulties. Specifically, the province held a conference to meet businesses and industries’ associations to discuss issues on labor and employment, listen to opinions, share difficulties with businesses as well as finding solutions to ensure employees ‘legitimate rights and interests.

Along with that, the province has strengthened forms on taking care of workers' lives. Specifically, the province has well implemented a policy on housing rental support for employees. Up to now, the province has disbursed to complete the policy with the total number of records received, appraised and approved by district-level People's Committees at 12,883 enterprises, 1,573,726 laborers and total approved fund of more than VND973,76 billion, thereby contributing to supporting disadvantaged employees, helping them keep their mind in work …

Mr. Tuyen also said that in order to promptly meet the labor needs of enterprises as well as the employment needs of employees, provincial DoLISA has directed specialized divisions to promote vocational training, associating training with employment,  vocational facilities with enterprises in order to improve workers’skills, opportunely grasp new production technologies at enterprises. Provincial DoLISA has also directed provincial Job Placement Center to strengthen the organization of direct and online job trading sessions to connect labor supply – demand; promote the connection of supply - demand, consult and introduce new jobs to employees under the recruitment needs of enterprises; connect employees who have lost their jobs with enterprises that are in need of recruitment; strengthen activities on consulting, introducing jobs, connecting jobs through Zalo, Facebook, phone, email, direct and online job transaction floors…so that employees can access jobs quickly and conveniently.

Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Vice- Chairwoman of provincial People's Council: “The meeting between provincial People's Council deputies and employees was one of the activities to renew the thematic voter contact form of provincial People's Council in order to strengthen the relationship of the attachment of the Party, the government, the elected bodies, the elected deputies with employees. As an elected body, performing supervisory and decision-making functions, provincial People's Council will further focus on supervising the implementation of policies and laws related to employees in the province, joining hands with all-level authorities and trade unions to take better care of their lives, helping them feel secure in production, continuing actively contributing to the local socio-economic development...”.
