President Truong Tan Sang received Vice President of the International Friendship Exchange Council of Japan (FEC) Nakagaki Yoshihiko, who is also President of the Vietnam Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee in Hanoi on September 30.

At the reception, President Sang was appreciative of effective economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries following his State visit to Japan.

Sang said that Vietnam-Japan relations are built on the foundation of the fine traditional friendship and commitments as agreed by senior leaders.

Participating in trade agreement negotiations, Vietnam attaches great importance to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) integration process, in which Japan is a member, he said.

President Sang asked Japan to provide relevant Vietnamese agencies with information regarding the needs, capacity and conditions of Japanese businesses to facilitate cooperation with Vietnamese localities.

He said that Vietnam will speed up the implementation of key Japan-invested transportation routes and aviation cooperation between the two nations.

Nakagaki Yoshihiko stated Japan is keen to replicate successful cooperative models in education and healthcare in Vietnam and promised to boost investment cooperation with Vietnamese businesses to step up bilateral economic cooperation.

Besides the potential and advantages in the investment environment, Vietnam needs to develop supporting industries and infrastructure facilities, increase power supply and intensify education and vocational training, the Japanese official told his host.
