Propaganda strengthened for students to participate in health insurance

Update: 04-08-2017 | 19:03:22

That was the direction of Mr. Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, at sum-up meeting of student health insurance in universities, colleges, professional secondary and vocational training schools in 2016-2017 academic year, and task deployment in 2016-2017 academic year, on 3rd Aug at Provincial Social Insurance.

Mr. Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, delivered his speech at the conference.

According to report, the proportion of students participating in health insurance of this bloc in 2016-2017academic year was only 68%, and about 11,382 students of this bloc have not participated in health insurance. Therefore, health insurance coverage rate of the whole province from primary to university was nearly 89%, while the national average rate was over 91%.

Among 28 universities, colleges, professional secondary and vocational training schools in the province, 10 schools achieved over 90% -100%; 4 schools 80-90%; 5 schools 70-80%; 4 schools 50-70%; 3 schools had rates ranging from 20% to less than 50%; 2 schools under 20% were Ngo Quyen University, Binh Duong Economics and Technology University.

The reason was that schools were not really interested in the implementation, propaganda on this issue; Some parents were subjective. Schools with large numbers of student have not yet listed and classified students who have limited health insurance and belonged to other groups, slowing the participation rate of health insurance.

Also at the conference, representatives of schools raised difficulties in encouraging students to participate in health insurance at their unit.

Mr. Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee, suggested that, in order to make people aware of and actively participate in health insurance, departments, agencies and localities should intensify propaganda in many forms. Department of Education and Training needs to instruct schools to check the number of students who have not participated in health insurance to apply sanctions. Board of directors of schools should pay more attention to the introduction of benefits when participating in health insurance for students.
