After 10 years of implementing the national target program on new-style rural construction, Binh Duong province’s rural image has reached positive changes with infrastructure facilities invested perfectly, scenery getting green-clean-nice, people’s spiritual and material lives improved.

Highlights

So far, all communes in the province have reached criteria of the new-style rural construction program and there have been 3 out of 7 districts, towns fulfilling the program. Binh Duong is among the country’s first 8 provinces and cities with 100% of communes recognized as new-style rural ones. The province’s total capital for implementation of the program over the past time was more than VND25trillion. Noticeably, the province’s new-style rural construction saw no debts in basic construction…

During the 2010-2015 period, the province mobilized all resources to carry out the new-style rural construction program, thereby step by step building up a modern socio-economic infrastructure system in the rural region. The movement of “The whole province joining hands in new-style rural construction” received enthusiastic response from the local authorities at all levels and people. From this, many localities had effective ways, upholding the strength of people in building new-style rural areas.

Possibly speaking, most major infrastructure facilities in terms of power, traffic…have obtained considerable strides, bringing a new image and vitality to the local countryside. Till now, there have been 100% of streets at district/commune levels covered by asphalt and concrete; 73% of households in use of clean water; 100% of schools, health stations, cultural institutions meeting standards…

“Sweet fruit” from new-style rural construction

The “sweet fruit” from the new-style rural construction is that the spiritual and material lives of people in the rural region of the province have been improved. The average income per capita of people in the new-style rural communes of the province last year was VND60million.

The province’s industrial manufacture in the rural region of the province has also gained vigorous development, forming up industrial parks, compounds and urban areas, promoting the shift of rural economic structure towards increasing the proportion of industrial manufacture-services and decreasing the proportion of agricultural production.

Towards modern new-style rural areas

The province has set the targets of maintaining the results of new-style rural communes in the previous period; boosting advanced new-style rural construction; promoting sustainable development towards civilized, prosperous and modern new-style rural areas.

Pham Van Bong, Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that provincial People’s Committee has promulgated a set of advanced new-style rural construction criteria while further making infrastructure investment in the rural region in line with the orientation and roadmap of socio-economic development in districts, towns; give priority to making investment in urgent works on water supply and drainage, environmental protection…; upgrading streets, green trees and environmental scenery in rural residential areas to build up a civilized, green and nice living environment in the coming time.

Under the set targets, the province will further boost its new-style rural construction program based on sustainable agricultural development with large scale, hi-tech application…

Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that with the motto of “The State and people work together”, the province’s new-style rural construction program has reached creative strides. Localities need to further improve the quality of the program’s criteria while upholding creative ways, better serving the lives of people, making obvious changes in the rural region of the province.
