Vietnam-China friendship is a valuable asset

A delegation of the National Assembly led by Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, paid a working visit to China from January 4-8 at the invitation of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress.

At the meeting with Wu Bangguo Chairman of the Committee on January 5, Phong said that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China is a valuable asset and that the Vietnamese Party, State and people are thankful to China for its great support to Vietnam in national liberation in the past and national construction and defence at present.

Wu Bangguo affirmed that China attaches importance to developing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam for mutual benefits and for peace and stability in the region.

The two sides agreed that it is necessary to intensify the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership based on common perception of the two countries’ high-ranking leaders.

They asserted that cooperative relations between the two legislative bodies should be strengthened through further promoting the exchange of visits, information and experience between their peoples and mutual support at multilateral forums.

Phong is scheduled to hold talks with Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress Lu Yongxiang on January.6.
