9th provincial People’s Council greatly contributes to socio-economic development

Early March 16, the 9th provincial People's Council held its 18th session with focus on reviewing five-year tenure activities from 2016-2021. Attending the session were Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation; Vo Van Minh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; former leaders of provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee; deputies of the National Assembly, the 9th provincial People's Council and leaders of departments, sectors in the province.

Many imprints

One of the important contents at the 18th session was to review the five-year operation of the 9th  provincial People's Council from 2016 to 2021. Vo Van Minh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council said that the 9th provincial People's Council was trusted by voters in the province on May 22, 2016 with a total of 70 delegates. During the process of operation, the apparatus of the provincial People's Council was interested in consolidating human resources with renewal activities, meeting the requirements of the local political tasks set out, significantly contributing to the overall development of the province and strengthening the local people's trust.

Looking back on the last 5-year tenure, provincial People's Council greatly contributed to the determination of the local socio-economic development goals, ensuring national defense and security. Amid the world’s economy facing difficulties and the complicated development of Covid-19, the province still maintained the annual growth rate at 9.35%, higher than the national average level at 5.9%. The province’s economic structure continued being shifted in the right direction with 66.94% - 21.98% - 3.15%. - 7.93% in industry - service - agriculture – taxes on products minus subsidies on products, respectively. The province’s average GRDP per capita was VND151 million per year, higher than the average level of the southeastern region and 2.5 times higher than the national average level.

During the past 5 years, the province’s infrastructure system was built synchronously and modernly. Many important traffic works and projects connected to the regional and national transport systems was constructed and put into use with effectiveness upheld. In addition, the province strengthened foreign relations, attached special importance to renovating development models, making breakthroughs in investment attraction, creating a new growth motivation through implementing the  Binh Duong smart city project, Innovation Region; officially joined the World Technopolis Association (WTA), the World Smart Community Forum (ICF) and was named in the list of 21 cities, regions honored by the ICF with the world’s typical smart city development strategies in the world for the third time in a row.

Binh Duong is the 6th most populous province out of 63 provinces and cities in the country. Although having many pressures from the annual population growth, the province harmoniously resolved the relationship between economic growth and social progress and equity; mobilized all resources for the development of education and healthcare sectors, well solved issues on social welfare, improving the lives of people; continued maintaining national defense - security, social order and safety. The consensus of the great national unity bloc in the province got higher and higher.

Focus on successfully organizing upcoming elections

At the session, Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation assessed that inheriting and upholding achievements and lessons from provincial People's Council in the previous tenures, the 9th provincial People's Council undergone many innovations, better carried out functions and tasks under the law, basically meeting the requirements of the local renewal and development cause. Provincial People's Council enhanced its role and responsibility in deciding the local important issues under the law. Monitoring was conducted regularly, covering all fields, with focus on pressing issues in socio-economic life, limited aspects in State administrative agencies and judicial agencies. The task pointed out results done as well as shortcomings for change, thereby having a positive impact on the leadership, direction, and administration of the locality ...

Mr. Nam also noted that the current important task of the entire Party Committee is to focus on preparing for the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure. This is an important political event with great significance for the whole country in general and for Binh Duong province in particular. The upcoming elections take place in an excited atmosphere of the people nationwide after the success of the 13th National Party Congress. The local people's trust and expectation in the Party's wise leadership in the new tenure are raised.

Although facing many difficulties, especially the heavy impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic on many aspects of social life, provincial People's Council have actively coordinated with concerned agencies to focus on making good preparations for the upcoming elections on schedule, contributing to their successful organization, ensuring that they will take place democratically, equally, lawfully, safely, economically and be a festival of the entire people.

*At the 18th session, provincial People's Council voted to remove retired officers from the position of provincial People's Committee members, including: Luc Duy Lac, former Director of provincial Department of Health; Nguyen Hong Sang, former Director of provincial Department of Education and Training; Tran Ba ​​Luan, former Director of provincial Department of Transport. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, former Director of provincial Department of Science and Technology moved to take on a new assignment as the Principal of Thu Dau Mot University. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of provincial Department of Health; Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of the Department of provincial Education and Training and Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of provincial Department of Transport  won the position of members of provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 tenure.

* In addition to reviewing the 5-year activities of the provincial People’s Council, the session also considered and decided on some local important and urgent issues and approved draft resolutions such as appointing deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure; adjusting some contents of the local State budget revenue estimates; adjusting some contents of  the local public investment plan in 2021 ...
