Volunteering for urban civilization

This year, provincial Youth Union Standing Committee chose Thu Dau Mot city as a locality to host the launching ceremony of "the Peak Day of Volunteers for Urban Civilization in Youth Month". The activity attracted the enthusiastic participation of thousands of Youth Union members across the city with many practical projects, making efforts for a civilized city.

In the exciting atmosphere of the youth in March, the month of celebrating the Youth Union’s founding anniversary, at the launching ceremony of the "Peak Day of Volunteers for Urban Civilization", the city's youth launched 4 volunteer squads, namely “Youth participating in building urban civilization”, “Youth volunteering for the community”, “Youth supporting the implementation of online public services”, “Youth volunteering for the community”... For Youth Union organizations at the grassroots level uniting to emulate the implementation of civilized urban construction activities, 14 Youth Unions of Thu Dau Mot city’s wards and the Youth Unions of the city’s Police Agency, the Youth Union of the city’s Military Command signed a commitment to "Ensure the organization of activities to participate in building civilized urban areas" in wards in 2024.

The activity of "Volunteering for Urban Civilization" was one of 5 contents of the movement of "Volunteers participating in building civilized cities" launched by the Central Committee of the Youth Union and Binh Duong provincial Youth Union in association with the theme of "Year of Youth Volunteers 2024" synchronized in all aspects of the Youth Union's work, focusing on implementing the policy of 3 links: Force link, area link and community link in implementing volunteer activities throughout the campaign.

Therefore, the launching ceremony of the "Peak Day of Volunteers for Civilized Urbanization" had the participation of a large number of forces representing different colors: Youth Union, police, and army. Young people spread out the spirit of volunteering for civilized urbanization to every house, showing their love for the city with practical and meaningful activities, thereby contributing to raising awareness of Youth Union members and people in implementing the lifestyle of civilized urbanization, creating a green - clean - beautiful environmental landscape.

Building up a beautiful city

After the ceremony, Youth Union members got involved in cleaning up, planting trees and flowers in the local parks; cleaning up canals; provided free medical check-ups and medicine for residents and Youth Union workers at lodging facilities; visiting and offering gifts to 5 policy beneficiary families. All Youth Union branches across the city simultaneously carried out many meaningful tasks such as propagandizing and mobilizing people to practice a civilized lifestyle; planting flowers and trees; creating green areas at lodging facilities, parks and schools; ensuring security and order...

Vo Tan Vu, a Youth Union member of Chanh Nghia ward said: "A truly civilized city is when people know how to protect and care for the living environment, have a noble sense of community and behave culturally and together protect, preserve and promote the nation's fine cultural values. Determining the position and role of youth as the core and pioneering force in all socio-economic fields of the country, including the volunteer movement for civilized urbanization, I vow to do my best for the movement of youth participating in building civilized cities through many specific activities".

Nguyen Minh Tam, Secretary of Thu Dau Mot city’s Youth Union said that in the coming time, the city’s Youth Union Standing Committee will focus on implementing volunteer activities such as organizing activites to build up clean, beautiful, safe, green urban environmental landscapes among Youth Union members; removing "black spots" on environmental pollution; ensuring social order and safety; building up a civilized lifestyle and cultural behavior; participating in building smart urban areas; replicating the model of volunteer team supporting functional forces in ensuring social order and safety; establishing community digital technology groups and digital transformation teams to join hands in building up a civilized - clean - beautiful Thu Dau Mot city.

For Thu Dau Mot soon becoming a civilized city, Youth Union branches throughout the city need to actively propagandize and mobilize people to build up a civilized urban and cultural lifestyle. Each Youth Union official, member and citizen performs the smallest, most specific job every day in protecting the environment; proposes and creates youth works, contributing to the development of more clean, green routes, many good and effective models.
