Precautions made among public in response to high tide

On October 15, the Southern Meteorological and Hydrological Station provided information that water levels at downstream stations of the Saigon and Dong Nai rivers would continue to rise rapidly in the next 5 days. By October 18, the highest tide level could reach level 3 of alerting scale.

The highest tide peak of this period is likely to occur on the 19th and 20th of October (equivalent to the 17th-18th of the 9th lunar month) and reach the following levels at At Phu An and Nha Be stations of 1.70-1.75m (above alarm level 3 by 0.10-0.15m); the time of occurrence is expected to be from 4 am - 7 am and 4 pm - 7 pm. At the Thu Dau Mot station on Saigon River, the water level reached 1.75-1.80m (above alarm level 3 by 0.15-0.20m). At the Bien Hoa station on Dong Nai River, the water level reached 2.00-2.10m (approximately or above alarm level 2 by 0.10m). The natural disaster risk in the downstream area of the Saigon-Dong Nai rivers is at level 2.

This is the period of high tides in the year, people need to be cautious of heavy rain combined with high tides causing flooding in low-lying areas, affecting transportation and socio-economic activities in the downstream areas of the Saigon River and Dong Nai River.
